Features
Twenty-one features, five steps.
Map the farm. Check the plot. Have a person review it. Trace the bags and lots. Hand the proof to your EU buyer. Features marked Forestline AI use Forestline AI to read or write; rules and maths decide, a person reviews, and a named person approves the handoff.
Step 1 of 5
Map farms
Get every farm on the map
The EU wants to know where each bag was grown. Your field officers and farmers can map a farm on a phone, with or without signal.
- 01
Walk Mapper
A field officer walks the farm edge. The phone keeps the readings until there is signal to send them. You can also tap corners, drop one point for a plot up to 4 hectares, or bring in a map file (GeoJSON, KML or CSV).
- What goes in
- A walk, tapped corners, one point, or a file.
- What comes out
- A farm edge with its area in hectares.
- 02
Farm Edge Check
Forestline AIRules remove GPS drift, jumps and crossings. They also cut the farm edge to the 6 decimals the EU system uses. Then Forestline AI looks at the latest selected satellite photo with the farm edge drawn on it. It says if the line takes in a road, a river, houses or a neighbour's farm.
- What goes in
- The walked farm edge and the latest selected satellite photo.
- What comes out
- A clean farm edge and a plain note on anything odd.
- 03
Survey Plan Reader
Forestline AIMany farms already have a surveyor's plan. Forestline AI reads the table of beacons from a photo. Minna datum belt coordinates (EPSG 26391, 26392, 26393) or UTM become a GPS farm edge. The area is checked against the area printed on the plan.
- What goes in
- A photo of a Nigerian survey plan.
- What comes out
- A farm edge, and a flag if the area does not match the plan.
- 04
Voice Sign-up
Forestline AIThe farmer answers out loud, in English. The words are written down first. Then Forestline AI fills the record from them, including the year the farm was planted and how the land is held. It marks what it was not sure of, so a person can ask again. For a farmer who speaks another language, a field officer adds the record by hand.
- What goes in
- A voice recording.
- What comes out
- A farmer record to confirm, with the words it was heard in.
Step 2 of 5
Check plots
Ask the satellite records
Each plot is read against records of forest in 2020 and tree loss since. The answer is Clear, Check or Stop, with the reasons. It is a screening result, not a decision.
- 05
Cut-off Check
The plot is read against the EU 2020 forest map, the University of Maryland tree loss record by year, radar and satellite alerts, greenness from satellite photos, protected forests and neighbouring plots. Rules decide the result. They list the reasons in plain words.
- What goes in
- A plot's farm edge and the crop.
- What comes out
- Clear, Check or Stop, with reasons and the sources used.
- 06
Photo Check
Forestline AIForestline AI looks at the two satellite photos of the plot. It says what it sees in each: closed forest, cocoa under shade, plantation rows, bare ground. Then it says what changed, in one to three sentences.
- What goes in
- The 2020 photo and the latest selected photo.
- What comes out
- What the land looked like, what changed, and how sure Forestline AI is.
- 07
Replant or Clear
Forestline AICutting and replanting an old rubber or cocoa stand shows up as tree loss, but it is not deforestation. Cutting forest to plant rubber is. Rules and Forestline AI weigh the photos, the loss record and the planting year to tell them apart.
- What goes in
- Loss record, both photos, planting year.
- What comes out
- Replanting, forest cut, or unclear, with the reasons.
- 08
Shade Cocoa Note
Forestline AIThe EU's 2020 forest map often marks cocoa grown under tall trees as forest. Forestline AI says when that is likely. It lists the proof to gather: planting year, old photos, cooperative records, tree age.
- What goes in
- A plot the EU 2020 map calls forest, and the satellite photos.
- What comes out
- A note for the file and a list of proof to collect.
- 09
Forest Watch
Forestline AITrees can be cut after a plot has been checked. Forest Watch looks again whenever you run it. It tells you which plots changed result, with a short note on why.
- What goes in
- Your checked plots.
- What comes out
- A short list of what changed since the last Check.
Step 3 of 5
Review
A person reads the evidence
Every Check goes to a person. A farm where the maps and Forestline AI disagree is always a Check. The reason is kept.
- 10
Review
A satellite result is never final on its own. A person in your workspace reads every Check. They also read every farm where the maps and Forestline AI disagree. Those farms are always Check, never Clear. The person writes down which one they trust and why. They accept or reject it and attach proof. The decision is kept as a record. A review is not an approval of the shipment: that is a separate step by a named person.
- What goes in
- A Check result, or a farm where the maps and Forestline AI disagree, and the proof.
- What comes out
- A decision with a reason, kept with the plot.
- 11
Document Check
Forestline AIForestline AI reads each document, matches the names to the farmer and the plot, and lists what is still missing for the proof the farm is legal.
- What goes in
- Photos or scans of the papers.
- What comes out
- What each paper says, whether the names match, what is missing.
- 12
Photo Proof
Forestline AIForestline AI looks at a farm photo and says the crop. The phone's location is compared with the plot. A photo already used for another plot is flagged.
- What goes in
- A geotagged photo.
- What comes out
- Crop, inside the plot or not, used before or not.
Step 4 of 5
Trace bags and lots
Tie farms to bags, lots and weights
A cleared farm is not enough. The EU buyer needs to know that the bags in the container came from cleared farms, and that the weights add up.
- 13
Receipt Reader
Forestline AIForestline AI reads the farmer, bags, kilograms and price. It checks that kilograms times price equals the total on the paper. Anything it cannot read is marked for a person.
- What goes in
- A photo of a buying receipt, purchase book page or waybill.
- What comes out
- A purchase record to confirm.
- 14
Name Matcher
Forestline AINames are written many ways in a purchase book. Forestline AI suggests which names are the same person and which plots are claimed twice, and says why. You decide.
- What goes in
- Farmer names across receipts and records.
- What comes out
- A list of likely duplicates with the reason for each.
- 15
Harvest Sense Check
Forestline AICocoa plots average 350 to 500 kg a hectare. The check flags a farmer who sold more than 1,000 kg a hectare in a season. For rubber it flags more than 1,500 kg a hectare in a year. That can mean bags from another farm are counted under this one. Forestline AI explains the flag.
- What goes in
- Purchases and plot areas.
- What comes out
- A flag with a plain note when the numbers do not fit.
- 16
Kept Apart
Europe's no-deforestation rule does not allow mixing by weight. Kept Apart follows each bag to its plot. One bag from a Stop plot, an unchecked plot or a Check no one has reviewed blocks the lot. It tells you which bag it is. Weights must also add up: a shipment cannot carry more kilograms than its kept-apart lots.
- What goes in
- Purchases, lots and plot results.
- What comes out
- Each lot marked kept apart or blocked, with the bags that block it.
Step 5 of 5
Hand off to your buyer
Give your EU buyer the proof
One click builds the files your EU buyer needs for the EU form, in the buyer's language. A named person approves the handoff. Until then the pack is a draft.
- 17
Proof Pack
For one shipment: the farm location file in the format the EU system accepts (16 error checks run before it is written), a plot register (CSV), a lot-to-plot trace (CSV), a draft of the EU form fields, and an HTML and PDF pack. The pack follows the list of what Europe's no-deforestation rule says a buyer must keep.
- What goes in
- A shipment with its lots.
- What comes out
- Files you can send to your EU buyer.
- 18
Risk Writer
Forestline AIThe EU buyer has to write down a risk check and what was done about any risk. Forestline AI drafts it from the facts in your workspace. It uses no number that is not in them.
- What goes in
- The facts of the shipment.
- What comes out
- A plain-words risk check and the steps taken.
- 19
Buyer Language
Forestline AIYour EU buyer reads the pack in their own language. Forestline AI translates the written parts. It leaves numbers, codes and coordinates exactly as they are.
- What goes in
- A finished pack.
- What comes out
- The same pack in the buyer's language.
- 20
Questionnaire Answerer
Forestline AIBuyers send long supplier questionnaires. Forestline AI answers each question from your workspace and links the records. It says "not in your workspace" when it does not have the answer.
- What goes in
- The buyer's questions.
- What comes out
- Answers with links, and the gaps.
- 21
Ask Forestline
Forestline AIWhich plots in Ondo are still unchecked? Which lots are blocked and why? Forestline AI answers from your workspace and links to the plots it used.
- What goes in
- A question.
- What comes out
- An answer with links to the records.
Every plan has every feature.
